Google’s Be Internet Awesome
Hispanic Launch for Safety Internet Program
Los Angeles, CA – Chicago, IL
In 2018, Google launched a gamified platform to teach children
To teach children to navigate the internet while being aware of the dangers and challenges around them. Aware of the importance of the hispanic market in the US and the growing number of spanish speaking users, they did a full spanish version of the platform. This effort combined different agencies: Jelena Group (Leadership, media and PR), North Star Alliances (Community Outreach and Grassroots), and LNL Agency (Experiential Marketing and Launch Event). As part of the LNL team, our challenge was to translate the digital platform into a physical experience.
We’re not going to lie, working with Google is really cool. However, translating all the magic and awesomeness that you can achieve in a virtual world to a physical space is not that easy. We had to create a space that was both entertaining and functional, while replicating the look and feel of the online platform.
The hard work paid off. The launch was a big hit and had a huge reception among the community. The media and social influencers’ participation amplified the outreach, and we helped influence thousands of families in the US. As a special bonus, the 3 agency’s partnership reached the finals at the 2019 PR Week Awards.
We were honored to be part of such a cool and meaningful project. It’s not too often you get to bring Papel Picado, Clay pots, and one of the World’s Top Tech brands to a bunch of kids in LA and Chicago. We are happy we helped deliver an important message to thousands of families. And to us, it was not just the message of internet safety (which is pretty important), but also the message that hispanic families matter to Google.
